Precautions for sealing bearing grease:
Different sealing methods of grease will result in unstable temperature rise during initial break-in operation, abnormal temperature rise, long initial break-in time, and even sintering, therefore, it is necessary to adopt the appropriate amount of grease and the correct sealing method according to the conditions of use.
1、Confirmation before sealing
Make sure there is no residue inside the bearing. It is recommended that bearings for high-speed spindles be cleaned, degreased, and then sealed with grease. For other conditions of use, it is also recommended to remove the rust preventive oil adhering to the inside of the bearing.
2. Sealing of grease
In order to seal in the proper amount of grease, it is recommended to use a sealer. For the sealer, use a gauge with a sealing reading.
3、Grease sealing amount
Precision bearing standard recommended sealing amount:
Angular contact ball bearings for high-speed spindles - 15% of the volume (-2%~+2%)
Cylindrical roller bearings for high-speed spindles - 10% of the space volume (-2%~+2%)
Ball bearings for motors - 20%~30% of the space volume.
The way of bearing grease sealing in:
1、Method of sealing in grease for ball bearings
(1) Between the steel balls, seal in evenly. If the guide of the cage is the outer ring guide phenol resin cage, it is recommended to apply grease thinly on the guide surface of the cage.
(2)Turn the bearing by hand, so that the grease is evenly sealed into the raceway surface, the inner diameter part of the cage, between the steel balls, and the guiding surface, so that the grease fills the internal space.
2、The grease sealing method of cylindrical roller bearings
(1) 80% of the sealing amount of grease, evenly coated on the rolling surface. At this time, it is recommended that the inner diameter of the cage should not be too much grease. The grease on the inner side of the cage is more difficult to flow during the initial break-in operation stage, which increases the temperature rise and also prolongs the break-in operation time.
(2) Smear the grease on the rolling surface of the rollers to the end face of the rollers, the cage, the contact part with the rollers, and the entrance of the pockets, so that the grease is evenly distributed to the bearing as a whole.
(3) Apply 20% of the sealed-in amount of grease, evenly and thinly, to the outer ring rolling surface of the sleeve in the bearing chamber.
